Popular Low Carb Diets Reviewed
There are popular low carb diets such as the Atkins and the South Beach Diet. In this article we are going to examine general requirements about both diet plans.
The Atkins diet technique is based upon minimal consumption of carbs. The Atkins diet contains a very strict first phase known as “Phase 1″. It is so strict that it only allows 80 carbs per day. That is less carbs than an apple.
The first phase of the Atkins diet is shown as optional. Even if Phase 1 is skipped, the Atkins diet is still a strict low carb diet. You have to be really dedicated if you are able to handle the first Phase of this program.
The South Beach diet is a strict low carb diet as well during its first phase however it is not as strict as the Atkins diet. The limitations carb requirements are not practical for the common dieter. Many foods are forbidden in this diet.
The foods that contain the higher amount of carbs are limited severely in their portions during the initial phase of the diet.
Dieters are allowed to eat unlimited portions of are super low calorie vegetables and protein foods. As an example the menu of the South Beach diet allows unlimited lettuce during the initial phase however it places limits on the portions of tomatoes, peanuts and onions.
Sweet snacks are allowed however only 75 calories may be consumed during the first phase. This is fewer calories than a large cookie.
Both methods of dieting are fairly strict low carb programs. It is tough for the average dieter not truly committed to the program to follow. Both diets advise against returning to a normal dinning lifestyle and seem to have no end in sight.
Both gradually allow more carbs to be eaten over time. Essentially the rules of the diet become relaxed over time. Both diets require the dieter to be aware of their carb intake and require a lifetime of commitment to some degree.
Both of these diets are not the most practical for the average dieter not completely committed to making large long term sacrifices. It is difficult to make significant changes to a lifestyle permanently. You can loose weight successfully without counting and limiting carbs.
