When the oils “activate” a region of the brain, what does that actually
mean?
It makes sense that your nose and ability to inhale essential oils can help
the body dramatically.
Okay had a look around, and looks like some scents (lavender, geranium,
chamomile etc.) can temporarily lower BNST anxiety, might be good coupled
with other procedures. But for the claim that Aromatherapy is an
efficacious remedy for anything (particularly depression claims), there is
very little evidence. Flowers smell good to attract bees, not to heal
humans of mental illness. Unfortunate, because would be a really nice easy
solution, but isn’t really much there besides placebo. Good day!
Post one academic, peer-reviewed article from a reputable medical journal
which endorses aromatherapy. Please leave your quackery at the door, let’s
move in to the 21st century responsibly.
yeah i did have an experience of smelling a special scent in a dream!! i
thought it is very weird but i knew afterall it was buffets!! italian food
mania !!
Peer-reviewed articles are published reputable medical journals (Google it)
ie Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital one of largest # certified
aromatherapists on staff conducted controlled research study examined
conclusively effects aromatherapy on relief work-related stress (ICU)
nurses conducted on 14 ICU nurses over 42 nursing shifts. Nurses given
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea). Over 57
percent involved in study reported decrease perceived stress levels.
Nothing is a “cure all” for everything. You might check out Paoli
Rovesti’s, a professor at the University of Milan, Italy research conducted
at several psychiatric clinics with essential oils showing benefits for
depression, anxiety and hysteria. Research suggests Bergamot has balancing
effect on hypothalamus gland activity, seat of more intense emotions ie
terror, rage. What’s wrong with placebo effect in this modern day of Body
Mind and Energy Medicine? Appreciate our exchange. All the best.
