I’m so depressed and sad, can anyone hear me? does anyone care?
I was interested until he started talking. He’s an artist and not a
neuroscientist. He has no business, in our modern world, talking about
depression. Anyone who cares about making any headway has to agree. His
target might be changing societies opinion, but we just need to redirect
that to the best science we have. We WILL NOT make any changes otherwise.
Not to be insensitive but I wish I had some of his problems. Friends
calling him that he doesn’t want to call back? Try having no friends and
nobody calling except bill collectors. Too tired to make lunch? Try having
no food in the house and no money to buy any.
When I am dealing with a depressive episode this is always a good listen.
I found that talking openly about depression and sharing it with friends
was the single most effective way to cope with it. Any suppressed emotion
tends to get out of control.
Another thing is, while there are biological factors for depression, most
of it is externally caused. Pills are not that great of a cure. Self-help,
helping others and understanding what our unmet needs are is what can make
or break us.

I just started to look in to get help but I am scared of the meds. I am a
smart guy and the thought that they might change my brain is my biggest
nightmare.
He’s so brilliant!
when you feel depressed, ask yourself what i would have to believe to feel
this way. and what am i most afraid of. and then change the beliefs to
something you prefer. don’t take things as they are, there just thoughts
you’ve kept alive or don’t know how to protect your self from. you’ve
picked them up from parents and society. they are not you. well everything
is you. and everything is love. you are love, we’ve just been molded, and
forgot how to love unconditionally.
expand your perspective. and go towards beliefs that make you feel good.
don’t care what anyone else thinks. if there not accepting of people for
who they are or any journey towards that. if they see a glass half full,
cant listen to reason, and cant look past differences… ill let you think
the rest up. be your own guide. learn to recognize. thats not to say there
are not others you cant turn to.
I’m shocked to read so many criticisms of this man. Being a lifelong
depressive I’ve come to understand that one of the gifts of depression is
the sharpening of our ability to empathize. When I hear such petty
disagreements and one guy just calling him a ‘lizard’, I can’t help
thinking how sad it is that all these people, who obviously have never been
in that dark place, are somehow so lacking because of it. Stay happy guys,
and keep making the world so awful.
Living a paleo lifestyle should be ur first step..
u spoke to me….
I have BPD, was mis diagnosed as type 2 bipolar for many years, I’ve tried

It’s absolutely true what he said about shutting depression out makes it
worst. I’ve tried to that for eight years and failed miserably all that
time. Now I’ve came to terms with it and I honestly fell better. I’m not
saying I’m cured. I’m not even saying that it won’t come back with
full straighten. It’s just that I don’t have to hold it all on my own
anymore.
What’s the title of the book he wrote?
I’m so depressed all I do is just lay in bed with my laptop. I get up only
to eat when it hurts and go to school.
The cure for depression is a gluten-free, grain-free diet. A healthy gut
flora is a driver to our good health. It’s sad that more people don’t know
this. See the GAPS Diet, a book that explains how to restore the gut.
My childhood memories feel like the memories of another person. A kid that
left the stage a long time ago. A kid surrounded by family and friends, yet
he is no more. If he didn’t survive, than what chance do I have?
This is far too accurate. I’ve been watching it over and over again to know
how to explain the way I feel to my friends.
I’d be a little sad if I still had an answering machine in 2013.
Best Ted talk I’ve ever seen.
“There is no such as love without the anticipation of loss, and the spectre
