Hey guys! Been reading your comments all day. I TRULY appreciate the
conversation here whether you agree with me or not. Just wanted to let you
know 2 things I did not mention in this video:
1. The floating number of calories for my “what i eat in a day” video is
underestimated. Here’s what it is if you’re interested: 1597 cals, 163g
carbs, 39g fat, 161g protein. You can see how I broke it down here:
http://www.blogilates.com/blog/2014/11/13/nutrition-is-not-a-religion/
2. My vegan beauties out there, I hear ya on the ethical front. I think if
people were to kill their own meat, it’d be a different story. There would
be less meat consumed. I 100% agree that the way slaughterhouses kill
animals is inhumane and horrendous. I think everyone should educate
themselves on this topic instead of being completely blind and emotionless
to the situation. You guys are correct that veganism is more of a
compassionate lifestyle rather than simply a diet. It is definitely
something that people should work towards if it works for their body.
Thank you so much for this video! I hate it when other people shove their
beliefs down everyone’s throats. I’m not vegetarian or vegan, but I love to
make my own vegetarian food because I love vegetables, yet also love
chicken and lamb and will never give them up. I don’t count calories
because it’s time consuming when I could be enjoying the food instead, but
I eat a relatively healthy diet.
I do love my sweet things but I also love my savoury food too and like to
gorge on them (bourbon biscuits and Mini Cheddars are irresistible). I may
not be slim and “healthy” looking, but I have a lot of energy and I don’t
feel unhealthy and that’s all it should be about. FEELING healthy. If being
vegan works for you, then fine, but don’t condemn others for eating meat
because you think it’s “wrong”. We are omnivores so we are supposed to eat
both meat and vegetables. Would you go up to a lion and tell them not to
eat meat because it’s killing another living thing? No, you wouldn’t, so
don’t do it to us, it’s ridiculous.
I have been following you since the beginning of your channel, and I love
how positive you are! However when you promote a lifestyle that is
restrictive, and supports rape, and murder of animals, and the destruction
to OUR planet I do have a problem with that. People say vegans are preachy,
and what not.. it is a fact that eating meat, and other animal products is
the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution
, and habitat destruction. Animal agriculture is also responsible for 18
percent of greenhouse gas emissions, more than all transportation combined.
Animal products promote cancer, and heart disease. I have also tried the
low carb high protein vegan diet, and failed! Try the high carb vegan
lifestyle, you can eat in abundance, help save the planet, animals, and
your health. People need to wake up, and carb up!
I almost agree with everything you said but.. eating meat = killing
animals, this is just cruel Nobody wants to watch videos from slaughter
house or kill animals himself but buying a chicken and making a “fun
dinner” is okey? Animals have the same rights to live on this planet as we
do.. I don’t care if you eat more rice, quinoa, cucumber, potatoes, carrots
or whatever, I don’t careif you eat 1200 kcal or 2500kcal but killing is
just not acceptable!
Thank you for posting this that dam freelee the banana girl is really
pissing me the hell off.She always makes it seem like her lifestyle will
save the dam planet and hers is better.I’m diabetic and I can’t eat what
she eats my sugar will go up if I eat a who bunch of bananas 30 in a day .I
wish she will stop stocking people channels to say something bad about
other people eating styles .I love your channel BTW.
I am sorry Cassey, but you are making it sound like what one person eats
doesn’t affect everyone else’s lives. However, that isn’t the case. When
people support meat and dairy industries, it supports the RAPE, ENSLAVEMENT
and MURDER of innocent animals, so it not only affects the person eating
it, it effects the poor animals who have to suffer for it to be produced.
It also affects other people, since the animals are consuming over 70% of
the world’s grains, and those grains could go to feed other people, instead
of being wasted to fatten farm animals that are going to be killed and
produce less food. By choosing to eat animal products, it is basically
choosing to cause other people to starve. Along with these things, it is
EXTREMELY harmful to our environment. These cruel industries make up 51% of
the greenhouse gases worldwide. Everyone’s diet affects EVERYONE, so we
have the right to criticize. Also for the your friend on the vegan diet,
she may not have been doing the right one for her. There are many different
vegan diets. There is high fat, raw, starch solution, clean eating vegan
and complete junk food. Just because one didn’t work for her, it doesn’t
mean that being vegan didn’t work for her.
The problem is many people confuse anecdotal information (what works for
them/their friend/their mother) with actual scientific evidence. The truth
is that there is no one best way for all people to eat. Sure science shows
us that low carb diets are best for weight loss, and that an apple contains
more nutrients than a lollipop, but the human race is so variable it’s
unlikely that we will ever agree on one perfect diet for all. So keep your
opinions to yourself unless someone asks you for your advice. I’m sure you
don’t appreciate someone preaching their religion to you, the same way a
meat eater does not appreciate a vegan preaching to them (and vice-versa).
Sure you feel that you have found the one true diet, but consider that
Scientologists truly believe they have found the one true religion.
OMG!! im vegan and i do agree that some people take veganism as a religion
and all they want to do is gather is shitty communities to talk about is
how they r the bestest. Im all about animals and health true, but I find
the communities available to me in my area disgusting and judgemental. So I
understand what you talking about, im vegan and I get attacked as if im a
“sinner”.
I have friends and family who arent vegan and I never try to tell them to
be; they observe me; they know why im doing what im doing; they have the
slaughter videos to watch, thats it. Now i dont want any religious vegan to
comment on this.
it’s impossible to shove a belief down anyone’s throat unless you
physically force them to accept the belief. and vegan isn’t based on
belief, but facts. I personally don’t believe anything. Most vegans are
just sharing information. meat is bad for you. not a belief.. fact.. dairy
is bad for you.. not a belief.. fact.. animal cruelty is wrong.. not a
belief.. the truth!
I love you so I’m not trying to sound rude, I know the older you get the
harder it is to change your habits.
Yet, it is not about what works for you.
Let’s say my neighbor likes raping little girls. That doesn’t work for me
but that works for him, that makes him happy and that’s the only way he can
get satisfaction. Is it ok? Should I let him rape his daughter cause it is
his choice? The girl doesn’t even know me, why should I care?
It is the same. The kid doesn’t want to be abused, that mother doesn’t want
to give you her baby’s milk, the little boy doesn’t want to live in a cage
till he’s big enough to be killed, fried and served in kfc. That doesn’t
work for them. But you(he) don’t care, so you do what works for you.
The girl can’t defend herself. None of them can. Us being “stronger and
superior” doesn’t give us the right to do whatever we want with them.
It’s funny how Cassie makes a video like this that intelligently critiques
a negative behavior, and literally people continue said negative behavior
in the comments.
Let me share a story about my experience with veganism – truly, everyone’s
body is different, and veganism did not work for me. I can back it up with
my own experience with science. (Doesn’t the internet LOOOOVE science?)
I started being a vegan last year. I worked with a nutritionist to make it
work. I did a lot of raw foods, vegetables, fruits. I included beans in the
diet as well since sometimes it was difficult to get ahold of healthy
grains (like quinoa) and fresh veggies. I tracked my diet for a whole year
to make sure I had a complete, seemingly nutritious diet because yes, it is
possible to get all your nutrients from different plants.
However, I wasn’t really feeling great even though I was eating perfectly
well according to my doctor and my nutritionist.
I got my blood tested a few weeks ago and talked to my doctor. I was
deficient in vitamin b12, vitamin d, and iron. I also found out that I was
developing IgG allergies to avocados, cashews, almonds, and all
beans/legumes. My doctor and I think that my body just isn’t the type of
body that properly absorbs these nutrients from vegan foods, especially
since my body developed food allergies to these foods.
I’ve since changed my diet to more of a paleo mix and haven’t felt better
in months – to be fair, I am EXTREMELY careful to purchase meat/animal
products from local farms. I don’t support Big Food; or I try not to as
best as I can.
How can people make the argument that every single person is supposed to
eat the same way when we all have different genetic backgrounds of cultures
that have eaten different foods?
For thousands of years, certain cultures have eaten in particular ways, and
such genetic tendencies are accompanied by foods that work best for our
bodies. People with Asian backgrounds might do best with rice and fish.
Those of South Asian descent who have been vegetarians for generations
couldn’t touch meat without possibly getting somewhat sick. The Native
Americans of the plains ate buffalo meat and wild fruits/vegetables. Some
present-day cultural food tendencies are seemingly strange to western
culture. The Ma’asai in Africa, for example, subsist on cow meat, cow
blood, and milk to this day. I’m pretty damn sure that if they suddenly
switched to beans and fruits, they wouldn’t do so well.
I usually hate writing comments because of all the controversy they cause.
I almost regret writing this out and getting myself involved in internet
anger. I won’t respond to comments on this – I’m not trying to argue with
anyone; just showing my experience as another anecdote in full-on support
of what Cassie has to say here.
I can’t believe you made a video saying, “Please don’t shove your beliefs
down everyone’s throat” and then a bunch of vegetarians and vegans came on
here and started shoving their beliefs down everyone’s throat.
By the way, “doctors” do not study nutrition. It makes sense that we all
eat the same diet because we are the one species in case you haven’t
noticed. We are just like every other animal, we aren’t superior or special.
“Never impose your beliefs on anyone else”….How condescending of you. Do
some research honey.
Fuck freelee the banana bitch… she used your name and other youtubers to
gain views.. tasteless.
I am a vegan and I usually don’t impose this lifestyle on anyone! BUT I
must say, that basically saying that eating 1200 calories per day ( like
you Cassey did in your day of eating video) while exercising, that is
completely wrong! What kind of message are sending to everyone out there?
That restricting is okay??? That’s how people become anorexic and develop
eating disorders!
how can you state that we are all different! we are humans, black, white,
whichever color you are, the genes we have are the same, our physiology is
the same therefore we should be eating overall the same diet, which
according to our evolution and physiology is plant-based. maybe someone is
allergic to this or that so certain modifications make sense but we are ALL
humans. you dont see certain dogs eating different things, chihuahuas and
large great danes all eat the same stuff.
on top of that, eating animals supports violence and animal torture. I dont
think anyone wants to be part of that
Hah, it’s funny how the video is named: “Nutrition is NOT a Religion!” at
same time she says in it: “i’m seeing the rise of religion in the healthy
eating community”…contradiction much? Why so? You seem very lost between
the definitions +blogilates
Veganism has nothing to do with religion, Cassey. It’s sad you cannot make
the difference.
I respect the way you eat, but You should try going Raw Vegan : +

If nutrition is not a religion then how come so many people celebrate
eating dead turkeys as a worldwide tradition? Why do religious people
justify eating animals using religion, the bible and god? Vegans aren’t
treating nutrition like a religion. We examine the facts and we make
choices based on FACTS not BELIEFS. There’s a difference. Meat is bad for
you is not a belief. That’s a fact. Animal agriculture is destroying the
planet. That’s not a belief. That’s a fact.
I loved this video because you are so strong and confident. I respect you
FULLY Cassey, believe me. I work out with you 3 times a week and I simply
adore you. However it’s not about imposing one’s views on your eating
habits. And it’s not about not respecting you! Those views (that you
probably saw in Freelee’s video about you) are not people’s views, it’s
science. Eating high carb low fat vegan is actually the ideal way for a
human to eat. When people comment about that, it’s because we care about
you! Please read The 80/10/10 Diet and The China Study. You will definitely
understand where we’re coming from! And I’m not imposing this way on you,
I’m simply suggesting it because I KNOW you’d benefit from it so much!
How is eating animal products a “sustainable” way of living? You clearly
need to learn your facts because mass production of meat, dairy and eggs is
wreaking havoc on the environment. Greenhouse gasses, pollution,
deforestation…Because of our so called “need” for meat we are destroying
this planet.
This is NOT TRUE. Cassey, I like you, but when I saw the ‘what I eat in a
day video’ I was shocked by how little nutrition you get, at around 1500
calories a day, which is barely enough for a 7 year old. You are starving
yourself and your body, and that is why you are hungry all the time. I am
not hating on you, I love you, but I am really concerned that you will end
up anorexic or underweight because of how little you consume, as an average
female adult is recommended to consume roughly 2000 calories a day, and
seeing as you’re quite active, you should be aiming at around 2300-2500
calories, to make up for the ones you are burning. I know that I am gonna
get soooo much backlash for this comment, but it is the truth, and it
breaks my heart to see a beautiful, lovely girl like you starving yourself
in the hopes to be skinny. I hope you read this and understand that I
really care and want you to be healthy again.

And this is why so many people love Cassey…and Why she has so
many subscribers. Because she’s not all like “You *should* be thing *this*
and you *should not* be doing *this*”; she actually gives advice on what
you *can* do if you *choose* to which is *actually* helpful. Trying to
make someone feel bad about their nutritional choices — is not.
1500 calories is not even enough to feed a healthy body WITHOUT any
exercise. There is no way that this is healthy Cassey. I really love your
videos and your personality. I really do. But I also feel that it is
important to make clear that you are eating way under your daily needs.
Many people (especially younger girls) see you as a role model. And this
diet, this low calorie intake is not an example they should aim for. This
is VERY dangerous! With this amount you are simply undernourished. this is
a fact
Nutrition is not a religion. My rant.
