Dr. Ilardi has some very appealing ideas for those who have little faith in
the "magical thinking" behind the popular practice of simply "throwing
medication" at ANY kind of illness, but particularly mental illness.
Over 70% of completed suicides in the last 10 years were on some form of
pharmaceutical anti-depressants at the time of their self-inflicted death.
This disturbing fact certainly is food for thought.
Thanks for posting.

Here's the thing, if you've actually suffered severe clinical depression
you will know that you can't even get out of bed, so how exactly are you
meant to do any exercise? It's a flawed concept. Drugs aren't perfect,
but they do work.

This talk is scientifically true: but it is totally ass-backward.
FACT: Depression is a disease caused by civilization:
How to get rid of depression is simple
GET RID OF CIVILIZATION! you dumb fucks
Get rid of MONEY
Get rid of MACHINES
Get rid of CHEMICALS
Get rid of TECHNOLOGY
GET RID OF SCIENCE
And you won't need this idiots trying to cure you of a disease that is
caused by the artificial environment you live in.

Trying to get rid of depression without getting rid of civilization
Is like trying to get rid of alcoholism without getting rid of liquor
stores.
Its' STUPID: It is an INCREMENTAL: HALF-ASSED, INEFFECTIVE STRATEGY that is
guaranteed to make people who treat depression RICH, so they can waste
their whole lives trying to cure a SYMPTOM of civilization.
Stop trying to treat the symptom: Treat the ROOT of the problem.
Depression is an epidemic and getting worse for a simple reason:
CIVILIZATION IS GETTING WORSE: Modern industrialized civilization is out
of control and none of you baboons have the intelligence and willpower and
passion to rein this mechanical monstrosity in and stop it dead in its
tracks.

What he explained is obvious: Humans are not designed to sit on their
asses and do nothing but stare at a flat screen. SEDENTARY CIVILIZATION is
the problem: depression is only one aspect: one symptom of people who are
born into this artificial mechanized nightmare.

After doing some digging I'm pretty sure I'm depressed and have been for
years. I never before looked at it as a disease so I just took it for
granted that that was how I was like as a person because I didn't know
better. And I think that's what the problem is for many people, they're
clinically depressed and not knowing it so they end up not doing anything
about it and it just gets worse. They dont tell anybody about it, either
because they don't know they have a problem or they feel too apathetic
about it. There isn't a panacea, a magic cure for everybody, but the first
step should be to tell someone close to you how you feel, so you have a
course of action. You might feel hesitant about it, even though there is
nothing to be embarrased about. I remember when I didn't feel so apathetic
and unmotivated all the time and I guess I'm just clinging to that memory
to keep me going. After watching this video I'm gonna try to force myself
to excercise more, I think it has helped me before. Well that's it for me.

I told my doctor about the efficiency of sports as a means to combat
depression. He said sports does help, but it would represent only half a
dose of a conventional anti depressant. When all the studies clearly show
that sports is more effective.
This guy was my physician for decades, but now when it comes to natural vs
pharma I can see he's not all I made him up to be.

I think it's remarkable to have a doctor dedicated in eradicating this
disease and it's honorable what he's trying to do.
BUT I'd like to see him tell a patient who's so depressed they can't even
get out of bed in the morning to "exercise! Omega-3! Sun light! Social
network! (ESPECIALLY to the people who are also anxious, to whom making
connections is nothing but stress and more depressing thoughts). Besides
the "healthy sleep" part that he skipped - without meds! C'mon, really?

Really.

IIardi wants us to understand that "Depression is a disease of
civilization" Does anyone disagree?

"Dr. Stephen Ilardi is a professor of clinical psychology and the author of
The Depression Cure: The 6-Step Program to Beat Depression Without Drugs.
He earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Duke University in 1995,

(presently) the University of Kansas. The author of over 40 professional
articles on mental illness, Dr. Ilardi is a nationally recognized expert on
depression. His work has been honored by the American Psychological
